New Year 2015-2016

We finished our year in less than a year and had a month and a half holiday. Now we will be starting our new year, trying to catch up on the Northern Hemisphere schedule....

This year we will continue with my Father's World curriculum "Exploring countries and cultures"

Homeschool Curriculum Package for ECC

I am also adding My Father's World Grade 1 curriculum for Jac as an extra (not going to do everything in there, but just some of it)

Learning God's Story Basic

We are also doing Apologia Science, this is extra science work and we will do it over a two year period.
Each child has their own book from which they will work.

Zane is doing Human Anatomy

Jac is doing Astronomy (no surprise here)

Neo-Rie will do Zoology 1

For English language we are doing Learning language through literature. We started last year with this curriculum and I find it very easy to do and the kids love it.

Zane is doing the purple book and Neo-Rie the Yellow book

I am starting Jac on grade 2 level although he is only in grade 1 because the grade 1 level is too easy for him. So he is doing the Red book

Maths this year is still Singapore maths.  We started this as well last year and switched from an Afrikaans curriculum to an English one.  We are still doing it in both languages so that they have the vocabulary in both.

The Afrikaans for Grade 1 and 3 is still the "Lekker Lees reeks"  I believe this is the best way to teach the kids the basics.

For Zane I have switched to Platinum Grade 6

For History I got 2 great books from Sonlight!

For Handwriting I have decided to do Handwriting without tears. For Jac to start writing correctly and for Neo-Rie to form her cursive letters correctly

For Music we will be doing the book:

I was also given the gift of the first edition of Piano Wizzard, so my kids will start with that and let's see how it goes.

They will still attend Macedonian language lessons twice a week

We are also working on Virtues this year with "We choose virtues"

This will be an exciting year for us - the first time I was able to plan a whole year ahead - no I hope I can stick to it!

I thought the kids would have a day holiday at the most before we needed to start our new year, but they will have a month and a half - We are into week 2 now and it is already too much. They are getting bored.

I have ordered my books for the new year and they will come in and we should be able to start school in Mid November.  This will be a first for me starting school at the end of a year.... it feels funny.

So here as some pictures of what we did the last couple of months.

With Jac we talked about all different kinds of animals, from farm animals to Dinosaurs
