Jock of the Bushveld

Our last lapbook for a while

I decided to do Jock again with them since we are living exactly where he walked and hunted.  The kids are also older now and can appreciate it more. I wish I could take the kids to see all the monuments and stuff. Hopefully before we leave the Lowveld we will take a "Jock trip".

This will also be our last lapbook for this year (I think) we are in transition again soon and I need to start packing up and thinking what goes with us to Macedonia as we hope to leave sometime November for a couple of months.

The books we used for Jock

We did our last little footprints for a while, our next curriculum will, if all goes well be delivered to Macedonia. We loved the "Little Footprints" and will do it again in a year or so.

It is actually sad thinking of leaving all these books in South Africa when we go - but I will see you soon again, I hope.

These are all the things Jac did.  the map of South Africa with all the nine provinces and the trek that Jock made.  We also talked about the difference between a Croc and an alligator.
We did some footprints of different animals (spoorsny). We talked about the Gold-rush and the mines and all the animals that is in the story

• Porcupines

Neo-Rie did some extra work about the Shangaan (Tsonga) people and the Grey Loerie or the "Go away" bird as it is sometimes called.  Our friend's dog also has puppies so this was an extra surprise and one that she enjoys tremendously. Visiting the mom and pups whenever she can.

We also talked about directions. What do you do if you get lost, and how to make a magnet into a compass.  Also if you get lost in the Southern Hemisphere how can you find your way again.

Zane also did some extra work, he had to  write about the Shangaan people and who they are and where they came from.
